Our Story

Why every ingredient earned its place, and why some things people expect on the label aren't in the bag.

Where it started

A diagnosis, and a decision.

A few years ago, my dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Rather than accept it as something to manage with medication for the rest of his life, he made a decision. He was going to change how he ate.

He cut the refined carbs. He put on a continuous glucose meter and watched what each food did to his blood sugar in real time. He experimented, learned, and reversed it. I had always heard diabetes had no cure, and I had just watched it cured with food.

"I started reading ingredient labels on everything, and what I found was alarming."

What was on the labels

"Healthy" was hiding a lot.

Products marketed as low-carb were loaded with sugar alcohols. Products marketed as clean were bulked with seed oils. Cereals marked "a good source of fiber" had three grams of fiber and forty-two of carbs. Granola and trail mix, which I had assumed were healthy, turned out to be vehicles for more sugar.

I wanted something I could eat every day and feel good about. When I couldn't find it, I started making it.

The rule

If I wouldn't happily eat it every day, it doesn't go in the bag.

CrunchCraft today

Baked by hand, in Fort Worth.

It started in my kitchen and now comes out of a commercial kitchen in Fort Worth. Every batch is still mixed, baked, and hand-broken by us. Every ingredient is still chosen with the same question in mind: does eating this regularly help you live a healthier, longer life?
